R&P Enterprise "Ovinit" (Moscow)

R&P Enterprise "Ovinit" has associative center of scientific and technical developments, which shelters highly skilled experts in the field of creation, development, commercial production the composite materials, as well as their recycling into industrial products and consumables.
Our experts have accumulated a wide experience in using their materials in chemical industry, metallurgy, machinery construction, ship building, automobile and tractor industries, carriage building, oil extraction, electronic industry, heat-and-power engineering, and production of the details for compressors and chemically resistant pumps.
To develop composite materials our experts use phenol swages with a low content of phenol, epoxyphenol, polyether including styrene-free resin, silicon binders and traditional thermoplastic binders.
The development of particular composite materials is carried out on the basis of technical requirements of customer and in case of need includes the stages of engineering analysis starting from R&P to the organization of commercial production.
R&P are protected by the patents of the Russian Federation. All the patented developments are produced only at the author's level excluding enterprises of the state sector. In 1994-95 on basis of heat-resistant organic fibers and polymer matrix "Carbonit" was created and commercialized this material. It has high antifriction properties and ensures small friction coefficient with low wear rates. "Carbonit" works well at dry and lubricated friction , in mineral oils, oils, and vapor. By its antifriction characteristics in friction assemblies article from "Carbonit" is better than articles from textolite, fluoroplastic, and nylon in endurance and service load. Material keeps its operational properties up to 250 C.

Full-scale tests displayed the material may successfully compete with traditional analogues as:

  • Vanes for rotor compressors (so is for vacuum pumps),
  • Piston O'rings (packing rings) in hydro-systems,
  • Plain bearings for different machines in dry friction conditions,
  • Plain bearings for rolling mills with water lubricationing.
  • Thrust washers for oil submersible pumps impellers

    In 1999-2000 comparative tests were made for "Carbonit" versus textolite as thrust washers of impellers of centrifugal submersible pumps. (Result curves are in App.#2). Tests show that thrust washers made of "Carbonit" are more wear resistant and temperature resistant (up to 250 C.) than ones made of textolite being used nowadays. Basic advantages of "Carbonit" thrust washers in comparison with textolite :

  • Higher reliability and durability of pumps due to higher wearing properties of the washers ;
  • Higher pumps EFF due to lower friction coefficient ;
  • Less wear of a diffuser collar

    Testing of "Carbonit" experimental samples

    Testing mode:

  • Running-in was done during 10 minutes at spindle rotation at 2000 rpm and at axial thrust on friction couple at 10 kgp (gas pressure);
  • Wear testing was done during 1.5 hours at spindle rotation at 2000 rpm and at axial thrust on friction couple at 10 kgp (gas pressure); Lubricant in friction zone was Lithol 24 with addition by weight of 5% Aluminium dioxide particles sized 45 mkm max and Moos hardness - 7.
